Founded in the midst of the Great Depression, CKF was created in 1933 during a time of rapid change as markets shifted into food packaging demands. Starting from a single plant in Hantsport, Nova Scotia manufacturing cake circles and pie plates, CKF now meets global demand through five manufacturing plants across Canada.
Today, CKF is well positioned to meet the rapid and evolving global demands that focus on our environmental, social and economic impact. Our track record of uniquely sustainable food packaging distinguishes CKF in the global market. For us, sustainability isn’t an option, it’s a responsibility. Most recently, our organization’s sustainability journey brings CKF in partnership with Packright, a leader in PET sustainable retail food packaging solutions.
Our Hantsport, Nova Scotia facility also has a long history of outstanding safety performance and has been recognized by Nova Scotia Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) achieving the Workplace Recognition Award in 2009, 2014, and, most recently, in November 2020. This is the highest safety honour bestowed in Nova Scotia!
